Rhodri Jenkins 2004 Champion in action

Rhodri Jenkins retained the Welsh Sports & Saloon Car Championship after a dramatic final round which saw him score the points he needed, after another nailbiting finish to the Welsh Championship season.

In a race won at a canter by Terry Brown, on a streaming wet track Rhodri stayed out of the melee to stroke home for the points and afterwards said "My plan was to go for second place. I knew that was all I needed.  I stayed off the pace in practice and I spent most of the race watching my mirrors trying to make sure"

Rhodri - 2003 & 2004 Champion

In the end it looked like Rhodris plan was begining to unravel as he dropped further and further back, (even losing a lap to Rhys Lloyd who finished 5th overall and won Class G)  until he had Matthew Perkins sitting on his tail! Matthew looked like he was up for a dice and it certainly woke Rhodri up but there was only 3/10ths to spare at the end!

But that was enough as Christian Evans was unable to take advantage and lost out to Ken Rattenbury who drive a very mature race to win Class H and so secure Rhodri his second title!

Rhodri you da man!
