Points and disappointments for our men in Eurocup WRDA racers Alex Morgan & Richard Singleton had differing fortunes in the 2008 Formula Renault Eurocup the latest rounds at the famous Nurburgring circuit in Germany.
Richard (36) up to 5th before getting punted out, whilst Alex (red 44) is lost in the scrum Bridgend racer Alex scored some more hard earned points in race one. With points only up to 10th place and over 40 of the worlds best young drivers competing in every race its one of the most competitive series in the world, as Alex confirmed "It was not too bad a result, but it was a difficult weekend with limited track time. Ive never been there before so it was very hard work. I was 12th in practice but I got a good start and made it up to 9th after a few laps. Actually its a relief to get past the first couple of corners, as youve got a lot of desperate drivers trying to make up places. For of the rest of the race I was trying to stay clear of those behind me but I picked up another place late on. However its nice to know we have the car set up well and the pace is there".
Meanwhile also in race 1 Richard started 8th , one of his best practice position of the year but endured some more hard luck after getting up to 5th going into corner 1. "I got a good start, but someone tried a lunge up my inside in the first few corners and I got hit from behind and got spun around. Unfortunately the car was damaged and I couldnt get going again."
Morgan is now the leading British driver in the series and with the next race at Le Mans in 7days time, hopefully Morgan and the Fortec team can carry the momentum forward whilst hopefully Singleton and the Hitec Junior team can convert practice performances into points. Austrian driver Daniel Riccairdo currently leads the series. http://www.renault-sport.com/en/world_series/eurocup_2000/ Eurocup Mpeg- see what 44 cars at the Stone looks like |
